The Google for Education Pilot Program is an exciting opportunity for select academic institutions across the globe to gain early access to pilot pre-released features and participate in research and studies.
The pilot program offers educators a unique opportunity to directly shape and improve our tools. The feedback you provide will help us identify bugs, fix user issues, and enable our product teams to build better products.
Educators will have the ability to test a variety of Google products such as Google Classroom, Docs, Forms, and many more!
To be eligible for the program you must have a Google Workspace Account and your Google Workspace Administrator must complete the registration form. (Companies, Partners, and Service providers are not eligible). This program is for academic institutions (Schools/Districts) and not intended for individuals.
Alphas are the starting stage for a new feature. Alphas are conducted with a small number of participants, are typically not public, and may not be a polished or refined experience.
Alphas allows product teams to get critical feedback before a new product or feature possibly enters the Beta phase or advances to a General Availability (GA) launch. Alphas are conducted with a small number of participants, are typically not public, and are under NDA.
Betas are the next step in the product development process. Betas are open to a larger number of participants, are typically shared with the public, and may be modified based on feedback from participants in the Alpha stage. Participants can expect a more polished or refined version of the product or feature.
Betas also allow product teams to get critical feedback before a new product or feature possibly advances to a General Availability (GA) launch.

As pilots become available that fit your institution’s profile, we will reach out to your Google Workspace Administrator with details of the pilot. Only the Google Workspace Administrator will receive notifications about upcoming pilot opportunities and be able to invite educators at their school to participate.
Our academic partners play an important role in the development cycle of products and features. Program participants are expected to provide feedback to product teams through a variety of methods which will be outlined in the specific pilot. Failure to provide feedback during an alpha/beta may result in fewer piloting opportunities.
A Google representative will reach out to your Google Workspace Administrator with information and a sign-up form for an upcoming pilot opportunity. If interested, the Google Workspace Administrator will share the pilot details and sign-up form with educators they identify as a good fit. These educators will then work directly with the Google Product team in testing out new features and sharing their feedback.
This program is incorporated into and made part of the Google Workspace Agreement, the Google Workspace Services Schedule to the Google Cloud Master Agreement, Google Workspace for Education Agreement, or other applicable agreement governing your use of Google Workspace Services (the "Agreement').
Your use of the Test Product is subject to the "Pre-General Availability Offerings Terms" section of the Google Workspace Service Specific Terms (available at https://workspace.google.com/terms/service-terms/.
A completed NDA is a requirement of the program as program participants have early access to products and features that may require confidentiality.

The AI track of the Google for Education Pilot Program is an AI-focused subset of the Google for Education Pilot Program that provides early access to emerging AI and generative AI Google for Education products and features, enabling users to experiment with new features and provide feedback to help inform the future of our Google Workspace for Education products.

Google Workspace Administrators will need to provide an allowlist of 18+ staff users, who will get access to a group of AI and gen AI features. As new features are introduced to the pilot that fit your institution’s profile, your domain will automatically get access to that feature, and we will reach out to your Google Workspace Administrator with details of the new capabilities. Only the Google Workspace Administrator will receive notifications about upcoming features being added to the pilot.

In the Pilot Program, your data is subject to the robust protections outlined in your applicable Workspace Agreement. Additionally, consent is required before your data is processed, and consent is obtained when your admin opts into the Pilot. Data, including student data,collected via this Pilot Program will only be used to improve the Workspace products and services being tested in the Pilot Program.
In any situation where student data is used in a feature, users will need to explicitly add that data into the feature. For example, in a hypothetical pilot feature that helps teachers evaluate essays, teachers would need to identify the essays they want help with. Student data will not be used to train models. If you provide explicit feedback, your feedback may be used to help diagnose issues you are having and for product improvements. Feedback collected via this Pilot Program is subject to the Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
This Program is separate from Google Workspace’s Workspace Labs, Enterprise Labs, Bard Early Access Apps, and Duet AI Enterprise add-on.
Participants do not need to opt-in to “Early Access Apps” (the required checkbox for Bard in the Admin console) as this Program is separate from the Bard Early Access Apps program.
